PORTRAITS - PHOTOGRAPHY

A group of nine portrait groups of Indian and Ceylonese subjects, including; 3 Toda men from Nilgiri (200 x 145mm.), studio portrait of a Hindu priest, cross-legged on throne surrounded by texts etc. (200 x 150mm.), 'Bedouins' (245 x 195mm.), Baluchistan tribesmen by Fred. Bremner, Quetta (210 x 285mm.), Veddahs by Skeen (215 x 280mm.), "Group of Native servants, Noorkee" (125 x 200mm.), and "The Guides" (seven Indians, with 2 British soldiers, one identified on the mount as Wigram Battye), possibly by John Burke (160 x 210mm.), and 3 others of Europeans in India, albumen prints, mostly mounted on card, c.1880s; and a series of 17 views of Nilgiri or portraits of local Toda peoples, gelatin silver prints, mounted on 2 album sheets, 1920s (group)
